PRIZE-WINNING AUTHOR’S SHAME A very long time ago, I helped cook sausages at fundraising-fairs and so on. One day, I took time out to enter the art competition. I was the only entry, so I won the prize: a book called “How To Draw”. What was the fair that felt that I needed this book? The Blind Fair. So I took the hint and tried other jobs: rat-catcher, biology teacher, and so on. Then I wrote a book of the things that make my students laugh or throw food.
